The Paolo Procacci Foundation (FPP) was created to promote and support initiatives of any form that advance the prevention, the early diagnosis, the cure and social services for illness called “pain” and related symptoms. The Foundation cooperates with internationally renown and productive scientists and researchers active in some of the most important scientific societies and associations dedicated to pain, including the Associazione Italiana per lo Studio del Dolore (AISD), the European Pain Federation  (EFIC), the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), the European League against Pain (EULAP). Professor Paolo Procacci, a Florentine doctor of enormous and respected medical and humanistic culture was a pioneer in research into pain: one of the founders of the International Association for the Study of Pain, of which he was vice president from 1975 to 1978 he also served as the first president of the Italian Association for the Study of Pain. He worked intensely for a greater sensibility on the subject of pain within the scientific community and he made significant contributions to spreading the fundamental principles that should guide a doctor in his clinical evaluation and choice of therapy for patients with pain.
