Therapeutic education for better treatment
The evolution of the relationship between patient and care providers, with the highlighting and the affirmation of a new role for the patient, concerning his rights to choose what is best for him, led to a new bioethical level which is reflected in new ways to conceive and establish the relationships between those who care and those who receive care.
The Informed Consent is certainly an expression of the right of everyone to be able to make a choice that applies to his/her body and to his/her own person, but often these choices require a level of expertise not always accessible to all. The Therapeutic Education, within the physicians-patient relationship, thus becomes an integral part of the treatment pathways, both as a goal to protect the person’s right to decide, and as a strategy to facilitate its active participation
