RIASSUNTO
Introduzione.

ABSTRACT
Background. The humanization of healthcare environments and the mitigation of professional distress (including burnout and compassion fatigue) necessitate early pedagogical models centered on self-care. The international “HumaNS” (Humanizing Nursing Students) project introduces educational pathways grounded in the Human Caring framework. Objective. To describe the architectural framework, operational implementation, and participation outcomes of the traveling seminar “Self-Caring on the Road,” aimed at fostering personal well-being awareness among first-year nursing students and educational facilitators. Methods. This study adopts a descriptive-experiential report design. The educational intervention integrated theoretical lectures on the 10 Caritas Processes with practical-experiential workshops on complementary modalities (Mindfulness, Qi Gong, Shiatsu, and Expressive Writing), administered across four regional educational hubs from May 4th to May 9th, 2026. Results. The seminar actively engaged over 600 first-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and international Nursing students at the University of Palermo. The concluding “Train-the-Trainers” session featured collaborative engagement from territorial Professional Nursing Orders (OPI) and international experts. Conclusions. Structured integration of self-caring within undergraduate nursing curricula constitutes a strategic, preventive measure against early professional exhaustion. By prioritizing the health of the caregiver, Western Sicily establishes a sustainable foundation for genuinely humanized, holistic patient care.
